Head torque plates aren’t as common as engine-block plates, but they absolutely have their place. Just like a block distorts when assembled, a cylinder head also sees significant stress from the head bolts clamping it down. With upgraded fasteners and torque values that exceed OEM specs, it’s not unusual for factory castings to shift under load. On some engines this can distort the valve seats and cause poor leak-down results. If you’re experiencing valve-sealing issues only when the head is torqued down, you may benefit from using a head torque plate when cutting valve seats or doing any combustion-chamber work. These plates are made to order, please allow 5-8 business days for production. They are CNC-machined from 1″ thick steel and feature M10×1.25 tapped through-holes.
